Our Vision

SCBHR provides residents of South Central Iowa with the resources needed to help manage mental health disabilities and intellectual/developmental disabilities

    • Help is nearby and available when you need it with multiple points of access to care that supports mental health and disability needs, including multi-occurring substance use, brain injury or other complex service needs.
    • At SCBHR our vision is to mindfully, creatively and responsibly serve the residents of our region. Through our services, we strive to offer solutions to residents’ unique challenges – with respect and dignity for all people a the center of our approach.

Many misperceptions about obsessive-compulsive disorder exist in popular culture. Here are some facts about this brain health condition from the National Institute of Mental Health.

• OCD is a common and long-lasting condition in which someone has uncontrollable and reoccurring thoughts or behaviors they feel the need to repeat.
• Symptoms of this condition can include fear of germs, the desire to have things in a particular order or presentation, excessively checking on things and compulsive counting.
• Medication and psychotherapy can help those with OCD manage obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
